Job Overview 

NET Power is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Market Analytics and Structuring, to lead the strategic analysis functions within the NET Power Originations team. Successful candidates will bring analytical and technical expertise to lead the development of our market analytics, fundamentals, and deal structuring efforts to support origination and financing of new project development opportunities and the commercial contracting of clean power, feedstock, industrial gas, carbon dioxide, and environmental attribute sales from NET Power plants.  

You will develop macro and project-level financial models and forecasts to evaluate project economics and conduct thorough risk assessments across the energy, environmental and regulatory markets.  In addition, you will be a critical resource to support ongoing market studies to assess Net Power’s value and story by benchmarking NET Power against other technologies, constructing TAM/SAM/market share forecast models, supporting regulatory and policy initiatives, and contributing to the siting and origination of NET Power projects. This role requires a strong background in energy markets, macro and project-level modeling expertise, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with both internal and external stakeholders and resources. 

This position is eligible to sit in either our Durham, NC or Houston, TX office.

Key Responsibilities 

Origination Team Support: 

  • Close collaboration with the origination team and project partners to aggregate data and develop tools to identify and evaluate the “bright-spots” to support the optimal siting and origination of NET Power plant projects with a focus on power, CO2, and gas supply pricing, energy and compliance markets, and policy support.   
  • Offer analytical insights and strategic guidance to aid in project origination and development efforts. 
  • Support origination team with updating financial projections and materials for board and customer meetings.   

Forecast Model and Market Intelligence Development: 

  • Develop macro and project level financial models to evaluate and support development of originated projects and the commercial contracting of project commodities (fuel supply, clean power and nitrogen, CCUS, etc.) and environmental attributes. Project models will be used to help drive internal decision making and evaluate and prioritize projects that create the most value and opportunity for NET Power and project partners.   
  • Develop capabilities to challenge techno-economic assumptions and “stress-test” models with varying levels of inputs across the energy, carbon, and compliance markets.   
  • Work closely with origination, finance, and application engineering to update model assumptions and forecasts taking into consideration local site conditions, climate, and material changes and updates to NPWR design and process improvements. 
  • Work with internal stakeholders and third-parties to build NET Power’s market intelligence capabilities, which can include internal dashboards and databases of energy, infrastructure, emission sources, Class VI permits, projects, power-plants, and other categories to track, identify, and validate opportunities.  
  • Work with third parties to evaluate and update NET Power LCA carbon intensity pathways.  Identify/ evaluate opportunities to optimize and monetize the environmental attribute benefits of the NET Power cycle with the use of RNG or other biogenic feedstocks / solutions to meet customer and regulatory CFE commitments.   
  • Regularly update and refine models to adapt to evolving market dynamics and technological advancements. 

Benchmarking Analysis: 

  • Manage workstreams with our partners and third-party consultants to develop and update market-studies to evaluate competing technologies, identify bright spots, and assess TAM/ SAM/ and Target Market forecasts for NET Power projects and customer deployment in all regions of global interest to Net Power.  Market data used for these studies will help underpin/shape the buildout of NET Power’s proprietary market intelligence platform and support customer engagements.   

Regulatory and Policy Support: 

  • Collaborate with our government affairs team to support modeling and analysis with a focus on regulatory compliance, policy advocacy, and funding activities, ensuring alignment with industry standards and government regulations. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide data-driven recommendations influencing regulatory and policy decisions. 

Cross-functional Collaboration: 

  • Collaborate with engineering, finance, business development, and other teams to integrate market analysis findings into project development plans and strategies. 
  • Strong understanding or project financial models and project economics in the energy sector, including Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS), and other metrics to compare different technology economics. 
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders across various departments. 


Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in energy market analysis and structuring, with a focus on project techno-economic model development and forecasting. Additional experience in the oil and gas industry preferred. 
  • Proven expertise in developing complex forecast models and conducting comparative analyses. 
  • Power BI experience desired.  
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and policy landscape. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills. 
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to lead cross-functional teams. 
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
