Job Overview

NET Power is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer specializing in Air Separation & Industrial Gas Processing to join our team. This individual will oversee the design and integration of the Air Separation Unit (ASU) and other gas processing activities with the NET Power cycle, in line with our standard product requirements and first project goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial gas processing and cryogenic project design, execution, and facility control strategy, and operation, with a track record that spans across relevant project lifecycles. They will work closely with our partners and contractors, utilizing a system engineering approach to ensure the successful integration of these facilities with our revolutionary power generation technology, and help guide NET Power’s ongoing innovation and strategy alongside industrial gas.

This role will sit in our Houston, Texas office.


Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with external partners, including industrial gas companies, contractors, and equipment suppliers, to oversee the design and integration of gas processing facilities with the NET Power cycle.
  • Utilize a system engineering approach to ensure seamless integration with the NET Power cycle, operational strategy, and cycle control, while applying cryogenic and advanced process engineering principles to optimize integrated facilities for cost, performance, reliability, & safety.
  • Provide expertise and foresight to identify key cost drivers, configuration needs, and value engineering opportunities specific to NET Power’s ASU facility requirements.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define system and interface requirements, develop specifications, establish timelines, and monitor progress against milestones in tandem with NET Power project resources.
  • Support or oversee tendering processes, including the preparation of bid documents, evaluation of proposals, and negotiations to secure favorable terms and agreement in sale of equipment or sale of gas scenarios, as required.
  • Develop project scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance, and innovation throughout all phases of the project, from conceptual design to deployment and operations.
  • Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and feasibility studies to evaluate technologies, equipment performance, and integration requirements, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the project team, promoting best practices, lessons learned, and knowledge sharing initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in gas processing project execution, with a focus on cryogenics and large project development.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex engineering projects, from concept to completion, with a strong emphasis on technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Extensive experience working with external partners, including engineering firms, contractors, suppliers, and consultants, to deliver integrated solutions for gas processing systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of cryogenic processes, process engineering principles, and process engineering software such as Aspen Plus.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress against milestones to meet project objectives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing gas processing facilities, as well as best practices for safety, environmental compliance, and risk management.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites, vendor facilities, and meetings with partners and stakeholders.
